2018 Kia Optima trim models in Mansfield, OH
As the new Kia models start rolling into the Drive Spitzer showroom, a fair amount of interest is surrounding what will be available with the 2018 Kia Optima in Mansfield, OH when it arrives. The popular midsize sedan is just barely removed from a pretty extensive redesign, however, more than few changes have been made for the newly available version. The main thing Kia wanted to change for the 2018 Optima was to simplify the trim lineup. There are still four main trim grades available, LX/LX 1.6T, S, EX and SX. Additionally, the S trim is brand new for 2018 and is a sportier, more athletic take on the Optima, compared to the rest of the car's options. Many of the trims of the 2018 Optima feature the UVO3 system that is smartphone compatible.
2018 Kia Optima features by trim
Optima LX/LX 1.6T
The base trim is split into a pair of subcategories. LX models use a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine making 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. On the other end, the LX 1.6T version uses a turbocharged, 1.6-liter engine, as its name implies. Both have largely the same basic list of equipment including automatic headlights, heated mirrors and remotely controlled locks.
As the newest addition to the Optima lineup, the S trim uses the 2.4-liter motor and the same transmission as the LX, a six-speed automatic. However, it adds some of the special features with the LX 1.6T like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Other included equipment includes, LED taillights, rear spoiler and a combination of cloth and leather upholstery.
Refined features are the theme of the 2018 Kia Optima EX. LED daytime running lights, power-folding mirrors and illuminated door handles set it apart from the previous trim grades. This version also adds a few original convenience features like a hands-free unlocking trunk, rear air vents and a pair of charging-only USB ports for rear passengers. The driver's seat also has memory function.
At the top of the 2018 Optima roster is the incredible SX trim. This is the highest-performing version of the new Optima by quite a bit. It's the only trim grade to get the turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with a peak output of 245 horsepower. It also features a rear spoiler, dual exhaust tips and a sport-tuned suspension. The automatic transmission is controlled by paddle shifters.
