Spitzer Kia Lease FAQs

What is a Lease?

There are three ways to buy a car: cash, loan, or lease. Few buyers have the immediate funds to pay for a new car in cash, so most buyers opt for a car loan or a lease.

A lease is similar to a car loan in that you make monthly payments on the car. However, unlike a car loan, you don’t own the car at the end of the lease period. Instead, you’re treating the car similar to a long-term rental, but with far fewer restrictions than you would get with a rental car.

It’s easiest to think of a car loan similar to an apartment rental. During that period, you have the most unrestricted use of the vehicle with just a few limitations to how you use it. At the end of the lease period, you have the option to extend the lease or to lease a new vehicle. If you find you love the car you’ve leased from Spitzer Kia Mansfield, you may even be able to buy it once the lease ends.

Are There Leasing Limitations?

Because you don’t own the car during the leasing period, there are a few restrictions in place.

The most common limitation is the mileage limit. Although you will agree to a certain mileage limit at the time of signing the lease, most leases have mileages limits between 10,000 to 15,000 miles per year. If you go beyond the mileage limits, the agreement will indicate a set rate per mile beyond the limit.

You’re also required to keep the car in good running condition. This includes getting regularly-scheduled maintenance and repairs, as needed. At the end of the lease period, Spitzer Kia will inspect the vehicle for damage. Anything beyond the expected level of wear and tear will be added into the amount due at lease end.

How Long is a Car Lease?

At Spitzer Kia Mansfield, we help you to determine the car lease period that works best with your budget and needs. Both short-term 24-month leases and long-term leases of 60 months (or more) are available.

How long you choose to lease your vehicle will be written into the lease agreement. Once the lease period ends, all you need to do is bring your vehicle back to our Mansfield dealership for a final inspection and final payments.

Lease vs. Loan: Which is Better?

No financing option is better or worse than another. What matters between a car loan or a car lease is whether that option makes the most sense for your particular budget and lifestyle needs.

If you’re in need of a lower monthly payment on a new vehicle, for example, a car lease may be a better choice. A car lease is also a better option if you like the experience of driving a new vehicle every few years, and don’t want to deal with the maintenance concerns that exist with owning and driving an older vehicle.

A car loan is a better option if you prefer to eventually own your vehicle and intend to replace it after a much longer period of time. You may also want to consider a car loan instead of a car lease if you anticipate putting 20,000 miles or more per year only your vehicle.
